FAQ's

The Digital Home Hub audio-assisted installation walks either a family member, carer or installation engineer through the process of establishing good cellular connectivity, testing the range between the pendant and base unit, and sending a full system test call through to the monitoring centre to introduce the individual to the service. This feature allows for digital telecare to be installed safely by family members or carers while still ensuring governance, safety and reassurance for both service user and service provider. The AAI function is also a great feature for installation teams who are getting used to new equipment or wish to highly govern the process through automated features. Audio Assisted Installation is optional and can be enabled both locally and remotely.

Yes, using cellular connectivity is a resilient digital communication pathway and has been used extensively across Australasia and the Nordics as part of the digital switch. The Digital Home Hub is the most resilient digital device in the market as a result of its unique DUAL SIM setup which is explained later on this page and below. The Digital Home Hub provides safe and resilient communication through an advanced roaming algorithm and a secondary SIM pathway. The Digital Home Hub uses roaming ‘Machine to Machine’ (M2M) SIM cards to provide data and voice communication, with the added benefit of a managed platform for support should communication issues arise. The Digital Home Hub uses these SIMs in conjunction with a roaming algorithm to determine the most suitable local network for your device dependent on location and other external factors. In the UK, these are typically EE, Vodafone, Three and O2. Should The Digital Home Hub be unable to connect to the local network, The Digital Home Hub will roam and connect to an alternative provider. To connect to one of these providers, data and voice traffic must be passed through a Core Network provider such as Tele2, Telenor, Deutsch Telecom etc. In the rare event of a core network outage, The Digital Home Hub is fitted with a secondary ‘back-up’ SIM card to offer a redundancy path for connection to an alternative network. Should the Core Network provider through Pathway A be unavailable, Pathway B can be used to send an alert.

The system includes a backup battery that provides continued operation for up to 48 hours in the event of a power outage.

The personal help buttons and Telecare devices communicate with The Digital Home Hub through bi-directional Radio Frequency (RF) and have a range of 300m+ in open air. The RF device confirms that the base unit has received the alert and it’s outer edge flashes red upon confirmation; reassuring users and simplifying range testing.

Yes, the system receives automatic software updates to ensure it remains up-to-date with the latest features and security enhancements.
